Training Skills

  • Delivery of a pre-prepared training session on a work-related topic selected by the participant.

Note: The duration of each participant’s training session depends on the overall course length and the number of attendees. A group of eight is considered optimal.

Preparing a Training Session

  • Key questions for the trainer to address in advance
    • Why am I the right person for this?
    • Logistics: what, where, when, how – and how long?
    • Understanding how answers to these questions influence the training structure
  • Structuring the content:
    • Research – mastering the subject matter
    • Organizing the content logically
    • Creating and employing complementary visual aids

Preparing the Trainer

  • The trainer’s three essential communication tools:
    • Verbal – selecting appropriate language and avoiding slang or jargon
    • Vocal – modulating tone and avoiding distracting verbal habits
    • Visual – presenter appearance: attire, body language, and overall presence
  • Rehearsing the session – and obtaining honest feedback from a trusted source
  • Managing nervousness

Preparing the Environment

  • Room layouts – and their subtle impact on attendees
  • Leveraging the room to enhance the training experience
  • Ensuring proper cleanup after the session

Evaluation

  • The significance of evaluation
  • Processes for gathering and utilizing participant feedback

Training Skills – Revisited

  • Delivery of a second training session (following adequate preparation time).

Note: This may involve the same presentation as in Module 1, but refined based on detailed feedback.
