Course outline:
- The context of data protection legislation.
- Core principles of data protection and associated terminology.
- Lawful bases for the processing of personal data.
- Governance and accountability structures for data protection within organisations.
- The relationship between Controllers and Processors, including the role of third parties.
- Transferring personal data to third countries or international organisations.
- Rights of data subjects.
- The functions of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Independent Supervisory Authorities (ISAs).
- Breaches, enforcement mechanisms, and liability.
- Processing personal data in relation to children.
- The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations (PECR) 2003.

This course is delivered by a NobleProg expert trainer who has been approved by BCS.
The fee includes the delivery of the full course syllabus by an approved BCS trainer and the BCS Practitioner Data Protection exam. This exam can be taken remotely at your convenience and is centrally invigilated by BCS. Participants who successfully pass the exam (a multiple-choice format requiring a minimum score of 65%) will be awarded the accredited BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection.
Requirements
Although not mandatory, holding the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection is highly beneficial.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend an accredited training course and ensure they are thoroughly familiar with the GDPR, the syllabus content, and any prescribed reading materials.
